The Super Bowl. It’s more than just a game. It’s a whole experience. From the pre-game analysis that gets thrown out the window the moment the game kicks off, to everybody trying to guess who’s going to mess up one of America’s many national anthems (how many theme songs do you need America? Asking for a friend), to the halftime show which can only go one of two ways (excellent or a snooze fest), to the multi million dollar commercial extravaganzas, to the almighty Super Bowl foods. And I’m here to rank those foods.

5. Pizza

Pizza should be ranked higher on this list; I know that. However, pizza dominates menus year-round. The Super Bowl grants us permission to indulge beyond the ways that we normally would. Crust, sauce, cheese, you really can’t go wrong. Pizza is a universal food, and that’s part of its beauty. But because it’s something we as a society eat more often that other foods on this list, it ranks lower. I said what I said.

4. Jalapeno Poppers

This is a sleeper pick right here. When done well, these absolutely slap. When they’re not, they just plain suck. They key is to remove as many seeds as possible, otherwise you’re in for an unpleasant time. You also don’t want to overstuff your poppers, otherwise you end up with a giant mess when cooking, and/or eating. I also prefer the bacon wrapped technique over the breaded and fried technique, but that’s just a personal preference.

3. Chips and Dip

The chip and dip possibilities are endless, no matter your taste. Kettle chips, barbecue, ketchup (for the Canadians out there), salt and vinegar, Doritos and so many more. Then you have your choices of There’s a little something for everyone.

2. Nachos

The beauty of nachos is that they’re a blank canvas for literally anything that you’re craving. Start off with a plate of tortilla chips, and the rest is up to you. Cheese? No question. Meat? Don’t threaten me with a good time. Peppers, onions, salsa? Anything is possible on Super Bowl Sunday.

1. Chicken Wings

A Super Bowl party without wings is like a football game without the ball. It just doesn’t work. You can't have a Super Bowl party without chicken wings. And luckily, there are so many options to choose from. You have honey garlic, BBQ, or classic buffalo wings and so much more. The list of sauces and cooking styles is endless, making this the ultimate football finger food for every type of fan at your party.
